English Language Arts

The acquisition of language arts skills – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – will be our first priority and central to the entire academic program. Instruction will use a comprehensive and balanced approach to literacy.

Mathematics

Our Mathematics curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and problem- solving while building a mastery of basic skills to prepare our students for challenging and successful academic and professional futures.

Music

We have included music as a fifth major learning discipline in our curriculum– a discipline that, while "fun," will also "count." Music is a natural learning support for the other four disciplines and will lead our students to greater achievement.

Special Emphasis on Critical Thinking

Teachers will model for students constant examination and critical assessment in an ethics-centered school environment structured around the ability to listen respectfully and respond meaningfully to divergent views.

Social Studies

Students will acquire content knowledge in history and social science and develop the critical thinking skills that historians and social scientists employ to study the past and its relationship to the present.

Science

Effective science learning will involve a combination of hands-on investigations and observations as well as acquiring specific scientific knowledge and facts. Students will gain a strong foundation in physical sciences, life sciences, and earth science, and will be able to connect their science learning to a wide range of societal issues that confront our world today.
